Workshop: Stress-reduced handling of mice and rats

The Swedish 3Rs center invites everyone who works with mice and rats in research to take part in this workshop about stress-reduced handling.

Staff from RISE show and tell about their handling techniques for mice and rats.

In the workshop, you will take part of a presentation about improvements for research animals, followed by the latest in stress-reduced handling from RISE Research Institutes of Sweden.

At the end of the workshop, you will have the opportunity to work with experts from RISE to discuss what techniques you can use and how to adapt them to your own work place and situation.

  • Improvements for research animals – housing and handling: Katarina Cvek, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences
  • Refinement at RISE: Matilda Bäckberg, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden
  • Workshop about how you can implement some of the refinement methods presented

Target group

The workshop is directed towards everyone who works with mice and rats in research. You can be a researcher, an animal technician, a veterinarian or have some other animal caretaker role.

The workshop will be held in English and organised in Zoom.

We offer a certificate for attendees that stay for the entire workshop.

Time and place

The workshop will be held in Zoom on May 17, at 10-12 Swedish time (CET).
