The Swedish 3Rs Center invites you to the webinar on combination of organ-on-a-chip and computational models to study metabolism and to predict drug effects in humans. The webinar is a part of webinar series with a focus on Replace: a shift towards more human-based models for better research and drug discovery.
The webinar will be held on Thursday, December 4 at 12.00–13.00 CET.

We are pleased to welcome an outstanding collaboration between two researchers with backgrounds in industry and in academia who will share insights from their work on organ(s)-on-a-chip models in combination with computational models for the purpose of predicting clinical outcomes in drug development. Special focus is on liver–pancreas-on-a-chip model and predictive computational modelling.
Liisa Vilén – is a Director of Microphysiological Systems team at AstraZeneca. Her team uses organ-on-a-chip (OoC) technology to study cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic diseases and to advance the development of future treatments.
Oscar Silfvergren – is an industrial doctoral student at SUND sound medical decisions and the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Linköping University. His work is focused on developing computational models to understand organ-on-a-chip metabolism and translate that metabolism to humans.
After the presentations, there will be time for questions from the audience.
The webinar is directed towards academia with a focus on early career researchers, postdoctoral/doctoral students, researchers in respective fields, as well as industry and stakeholders interested in new assessment methodologies (NAMs) and in the 3Rs.
The Swedish 3Rs Center maintains a national network for researchers and government agencies with interest in animal-free methods for research, toxicity screening and/or for regulatory purposes. The network should facilitate contact and exchange of information between researchers and government agencies. When registering for the seminar you will also have the opportunity to join the network.
