Application for a license or approval as animal health staff
The Swedish Board of Agriculture is the authority responsible for issuing licences and approvals for animal health professionals. You can apply for a licence or approval through our e-service.

You can use this e-service to apply for any of the following:
- A licence as a veterinary surgeon
- A licence as a veterinary nurse
- Approval as a farrier
- Approval as a qualified physiotherapist
Before submitting your application, please read the information on our webpage about animal health personnel and ensure that you have all required documents available in electronic format.
You can log in to the e-service with or without an electronic identification (e-ID). Examples of e-ID solutions include Mobile BankID and Freja eID. If you would like to obtain an e-ID, please contact your bank or Freja eID.
You can also log in without an e-ID, but you will not have access to all the functions available in the e-service. For example, you will not be able to save an application that is in progress. This means that if you do not complete your application in one session, you will need to enter all information again and re-upload your documents when you return.

Application fee
To enable us to process your application, you must pay an application fee. Payment is made by card at the end of the e-service.
The application fee for a licence as a veterinary surgeon or veterinary nurse, and for approval as a farrier, is SEK 1 890.
The application fee for approval as a qualified physiotherapist is SEK 990.
How we handle your personal data
The Swedish Board of Agriculture processes the personal data that you provide for the purposes of registering and handling data for decision-making, follow-up and supervision.
The legal basis for processing your personal data is the exercise of authority. The data is processed electronically. The personal data we process about you is shared with other authorities for similar purposes in accordance with what follows from EU legislation, law or regulation.
The Swedish Board of Agriculture will store your personal data in accordance with what applies to authorities' archive management. Please contact our customer service if you wish to have access to the personal data we process about you.
