The Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Programme 2021‑2027 shall promote sustainable fishing and development of Swedish aquaculture as well as stimulate innovation.
The programme will support, among others: investments to comply with the landing obligation, reduce negative ecosystem impacts, research and innovation to improve efficiency and sustainability across the entire value chain, fisheries control and data collection to implement the common fisheries policy (CFP); and the protection of biodiversity and marine protected areas. Its main features include a special focus on the development of Swedish aquaculture, and support for small-scale coastal fisheries.
On 4 August 2022, the Commission adopted the Swedish proposal for the maritime, fisheries and aquaculture programme 2021‑2027.
The support in the Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Programme is funded both by money from the EU and by national funds. The programme will have a total budget of approximately SEK 2.15 billion.
