Film: How can computer models replace animal testing?
The Swedish 3Rs Center has produced two short films about how computer models can be used to replace and reduce animal testing.
Computer models are used more and more in our society, including making decisions that affect our health. The pandemic is one example of how researchers and authorities use computer models to predict effects and spread of the corona virus.
Today there are computer models that are used instead of animal testing to approve new medical devices. We can also see how computer models have replaced certain tests on animals within the drug development, and when to test substances that can cause skin allergies.
To share knowledge and to raise awareness of computer models as a way to replace and reduce animal testing, the Swedish 3Rs Center has produced two short films that explain the concept in a simple and pedagogic way. The films can be shared and used by everyone.
