Webinar: Good In Vitro Method Practices and Animal-Free Cell Culture
Welcome to a webinar focusing on Good In Vitro Method Practices (GIVIMP) and xeno-free cell culture media.
The Swedish 3Rs Center invites you to take part in a webinar on the OECD Guidance Document Good In Vitro Method Practices and on culturing of cells in a xeno-free medium for which the recipe has been published and is freely available for use. The webinar will take place on 22 May, 12.00–13.00 CEST.
We are pleased to welcome two Swedish researchers who will share insights from their work with cell cultures and quality assurance:
- Kristina Fant, toxicology consultant and member of the Swedish National Committee, previously worked with validation studies at the Swedish EU-NETVAL laboratory RISE Research Institutes of Sweden. Kristina was one of the authors of the first version of the OECD Guidance Document Good In Vitro Method Practices (GIVIMP). She will provide an overview of the key concepts described in the guidance document and explain how they contribute to method robustness and research quality.
- Stina Oredsson, Professor Emerita at Lund University, has developed the Oredsson Universal Replacement (OUR) xeno-free cell culture medium. Stina has published the recipe and protocol openly, enabling laboratories to use the medium without restriction. In her publications, Stina has demonstrated the growth of many cell lines in OUR medium and she is continuously testing additional ones.
After the presentations, there will be time for questions from the audience.

Who Should Attend?
The webinar is intended for anyone interested in robust and reproducible cell culture methods and in replacement of animal-derived components in cell culture media.
