Webinar: Companion Animals in Research and Connections to the 3Rs

Welcome to a webinar focusing on the use of companion animals as research models.

The Swedish 3Rs Center invites you to a webinar presenting two research projects from different fields, both involving the use of companion animals. Using companion animals in research may contribute to reducing the number of animals bred specifically for research purposes. Studies based on spontaneously occurring diseases and environmental conditions similar to those experienced by humans may also improve translational relevance. Importantly, refinement remains essential in all research involving animals.

The webinar will take place on 26 August, 12.00–13.00 CEST.

We are pleased to welcome two researchers from Sweden who will share examples from their research involving companion animals:

  • Henrik Rönnberg, Professor at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences,
Learning from Pets: Companion Animals, Spontaneous Disease and the 3R Perspective
  • Jana Weiss, Researcher at Stockholm University
Using Pet Animals in Comparative Chemical Exposome Research and Linked to Reproduction.

After the presentations, there will be time for questions from the audience.

Who Should Attend?

The webinar is intended for anyone interested in the use of companion animals as research models and connections to the 3Rs, including researchers and veterinarians, as well as representatives of Animal Welfare Bodies and Regional Animal Ethics Committees.
