November 20: Webinar on in vitro human brain models
The Swedish 3Rs Center invites you to the webinar on human in vitro brain models. The webinar is a part of webinar series with a focus on Replace: a shift towards more human-based models for better research and drug discovery.
The webinar will be held on Thursday, November 20 at 12.00–13.00 CET.

Illustation of human in vitro brain models created by the Swedish 3Rs Center.
We are pleased to welcome two outstanding researchers with a background in academia and industry who will share insights from their work on brain models with a special focus on brain-on-a-chip and brain organoids.
Anna Herland – is a Professor in Nanobiotechnology at SciLifelab at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Her research focuses on developing stem cell-based organ-on-chip (OoC) models to replicate human tissue environments of the brain. Her team creates patient-specific in vitro models that closely mimic in vivo biological functions.
Robin Pronk – is a Co-founder and CSO of BrainZell. He leads the development of advanced human brain organoid platforms to accelerate drug discovery, improve translational accuracy and safety of the new treatments.
After the presentations, there will be time for questions from the audience.
Who should attend?
The webinar is directed towards academia with a focus on early career researchers, postdoctoral/doctoral students, researchers in respective fields, as well as industry and stakeholders interested in new assessment methodologies (NAMs) and in the 3Rs.
National network
The Swedish 3Rs Center maintains a national network for researchers and government agencies with interest in animal-free methods for research, toxicity screening and/or for regulatory purposes. The network should facilitate contact and exchange of information between researchers and government agencies. When registering for the seminar you will also have the opportunity to join the network.
