The 3Rs Center's annual report for 2025
The 3Rs Center has prepared a summary of its own and the National Committee's work during the past year.
For 2024, the government decided to remove the earmarked funding for the 3Rs Center's operations. Unlike the previous year, the impact of these reductions is now fully evident, as the Center began 2025 with almost no previously initiated projects awaiting completion. As a further consequence of the reductions, the National Committee, in the beginning of the year, tasked the Center with exploring the possibility of discontinuing the Committee’s expert group.
During the year, the Center has published a more overview-oriented form of advice on refined methods for a few common procedures. In addition, the Center has published a statement from the National Committee on furnishings and enrichment for laboratory animals.
The Center has also worked with other types of initiatives such as
- network meetings for prioritised target groups
- international collaborations with other 3Rs Centers
- communication and cooperation with Swedish governmental agencies involved in the work to replace, reduce, and refine animal testing.
The Center has disseminated information about the 3Rs and its work through lunch webinars, conferences, newsletters and LinkedIn.
