9:30-10:30 Visit at dairy plant “Tukuma Piens”. Info about project “Development of scientifically justified fermented dairy products from organic milk and their clinical study”.

A/S “Tukuma Piens” is one of the largest dairy processors in Latvia and produces more than 180 different dairy products, including organic products under the “Baltais EKO” brand: yogurt, cottage cheese, cream, kefir, and others.

Currently, A/S “Tukuma Piens” is the largest organic milk processing company in Latvia; it began processing organic milk in 2011.

12:00-15:00 Farm Zāģeri – a family farm run by a husband and wife- young farmers.

They farm approximately 195 hectares of agricultural land, most of which consists of grasslands. In addition, they grow wheat and oats.

The wife’s passion is horses, so there are horses on the farm.

The farmers are focused on growth and development, so their future plans include building a young stock barn. They have been actively involved in an discussion group for several years.

They also work with a livestock consultant to prepare feed rations for both dairy cows and young stock.

15:30-16:30 farm Birznieki – home production, direct sales, tourism.

The farm has the second-largest goat herd in Latvia and is home to one of the country’s largest goat milk cheese production facilities.

The farm specializes in organic goat farming and the production and sale of goat cheese.

17:30- 19:15 Visit at Lielozoli – the Latvian Rural Advisory and Education Centre training and demonstration centre.
