Focus and facts on the 3Rs
Here we collect our films, articles and other materials that delve into the 3Rs. We highlight good examples and Swedish research that can replace, reduce or refine animal experimentation.
Films
We produce short pedagogic films about how different models can be used to replace and reduce animal experimentation.
We have made a general film about replacement of animal experimentation:
Cell models to replace animal experiments
In this film we explain how advanced cell models are used to replace and reduce animal experimentation:
Computer models to replace animal experiments
Two films are about computer models and how they can be used to replace and reduce animal testing. The second film explains how to trust the result from these kind of models when we use them to replace and reduce animal experimentation.
Impact stories of replacement
We have met Maria Karlgren in the lab at Uppsala University. She explains how her research group has replaced certain animal experiments in their drug delivery studies:
We have also recorded Henrik Ahlenius and his research group at Lund Stem Cell Center, Lund University. They have developed a stem cell-based model to replace mice in their research on neurological diseases:

Focus letters
During 2019–2023, the 3Rs Center issued a focus letter. Each edition delved into a particular 3Rs related theme.
The 2022 and 2023 editions of the focus letter are available on our website. If you would like to read an older edition, please contact the 3Rs Center.
